District VII, or Erzsébetváros, is an eclectic area with a rich Jewish history and a contemporary, edgy vibe. The streets offer casual eateries and food vendors, as well as quirky design shops and street art. Trendy locals hang out at Szimpla Kert and other “ruin pubs,” so named for their dilapidated buildings.
